Our New Members are Home!
Hey y'all!
Rush week has officially wrapped up and Alpha Xi Delta welcomed its newest members home. After a long week of recruitment, the chapter celebrated together and enjoyed the excitement of bid day.
Like I mentioned in my last blog post, I was disaffiliated from my chapter this year because I served as a Rho Gamma recruitment guide. That meant stepping away from Alpha Xi Delta to help potential new members through the process. While it was an honor to mentor these women and watch them find where they belonged, I missed my sisters deeply. Returning reminded me how much I value our bond and the feeling of belonging that comes with it.
It was special to see the women I mentored run home to their chapters. Watching their excitement reminded me of my own journey in Greek life and made the moment even more meaningful. I could see the relief on their faces as they found the place where they felt at home, and I knew every late night and long conversation during recruitment had been worth it.
At the same time, bid day was bittersweet. This year marked my last as a collegiate member, which made me appreciate every second even more. Standing among my sisters and the newest members, I felt grateful for all the opportunities Alpha Xi Delta has given me. I thought about the people I have met, the lessons I have learned and the memories that will stay with me long after graduation. Still, I could not have asked for a better way to end recruitment.
Watching our new members step into this sisterhood reminded me of my first day and how overwhelming but exciting it all felt. I hope they find the same sense of sisterhood, support and growth in Alpha Xi Delta that I have. I hope they feel like they have found their people, the ones they can always turn to no matter what.
That’s all for now, but I am excited to see where this new chapter takes all of us.
XOXO, Mia Ann
