Long Weekends, Late Nights and a Little Pumpkin
Hey y’all, it’s me again!
The second school started it felt like
everything started piling up at once. Between homework due dates, Greek life
events to get ready for rush, cheer and all the little things in between, it
has been nonstop. The beginning of the semester always feels like a whirlwind.
Professors are handing out assignments, practices are starting back up and
everyone is trying to find their routine again. By the time I sit down at the
end of the day, it feels like the week has already flown by.
It still feels a little crazy that we already
had a long weekend right after the first week of school. I love an extra day
off, but I will admit it throws me off a bit. I am such a routine person that
once I find my rhythm I want to stick with it. Even with that, I was grateful
for the break because it gave me a chance to go home, and that is always
something I look forward to.
One of the best parts of being home was
getting to watch my sister cheer at her football game. This year is her senior
year, which makes it all the more special. Every time I see her out there
smiling and cheering, I cannot help but feel proud. It also makes me a little
sentimental knowing this is her last season, so I try to take in every game I
get to see. I love that I get to be there supporting her, even if it is just
from the stands. It is one of those things I will always be grateful for during
this busy season of life.
As if the weekend was not already fun, I also
had a little surprise visitor. One night around 1:30 a.m., my mom and I were up
having one of our nightly chats when we saw the sweetest little face at our
door. It was a stray cat, and of course we had to feed her. We called her
Pumpkin, and she quickly became our little buddy for the weekend. She was so
sweet and made herself right at home, following us around like she had always
been there.
Sadly, Pumpkin has not been back since Tuesday
morning. My mom even posted her on our local lost and found Facebook page, but
no one has claimed her. I like to think someone took her in because she was far
too sweet to be left outside alone. If you know me, you know I am an animal
lover through and through. I would probably adopt every stray cat if I could,
so it was tough not knowing what happened to her. Still, I am hopeful she is
safe and cozy with someone who will give her all the love she deserves.
So that is where life is right now. Classes,
rush prep, cheer practices, late nights, football games and one little Pumpkin.
Senior year already feels like it is moving fast, but I am trying to slow down
enough to enjoy the moments that matter most, like cheering on my sister during
her last season or giving a stray cat a warm meal.
Sending love from campus, and from Pumpkin
wherever she may be.
XOXO,
Mia Ann
I totally feel you about senior year flying by already. I am obsessing over Pumpkin right now!
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy how quickly the workload piles up...Somehow we manage to make it through the challenges, and I am sure this semester will be no different. Enjoy the craziness!
